Croatian language has three dialects – štokavian, kajkavian and čakavian. As well as other speeches, kajkavian speech – a dynamic language phenomenom is constantly changing. Nowadays, due to huge influence of media and technology, dialectal language characteristics are more and more changed or lost. Kajkavian dialect lives in day to day communication, children learn it as a first language and in kindergarten and school they meet the croatian standard language. In our project activity, conducted in three kindergartens in Podravina, we wanted to deduct how much are the children from the kajkavian dialect region aware of the distinctiveness of their speech and its relation to the croatian standard. Project is a way of learning conected with life and learning which is based on questioning, looking for answers and fixing problems. It is learning in wich participants are integrated totally and they give the best results. This study describes project activity with the main topic being kajkavian dialect of Podravina. Project activity was conducted at a beginning of year 2018 in kindergartens in Podravina, or, more specifically in Drnje, Gola and Ždala. Project activity involves thirty children from three kindergartens in Podravina. Following study describes kajkavian dialect and forms of it, it also presentes history of the project in particular, and cause of the project itself. Study explains specimen and instruments used to prove assumption described earlier. Procedure of the project is also presented in this paper, including the results of the project activity. We discovered that children from Drnje equally use the standard and the dialect, children from Gola preferabely use the dialect while the Ždala children prefer the standard croatian language.
