Abstract (english) Entrepreneurial intentions is a term designating a pronounced behavioural intention of becoming an entrepreneur, i.e. a person who is the founder, the owner or the manager of a small business. It is important to note that entrepreneurship is not an object of interest of every person and that this construct is studied not only in economic research but also in psychology. The general goal of this research was to investigate the relationship between personality traits and entrepreneurial intentions of male and female students in the Republic of Croatia, as well as to study the relationship between gender and entrepreneurial intentions in the aforementioned population. In other words, the purpose of this research was to examine how personality traits and gender contribute to explaining the level of students´ entrepreneurial intentions. Personality traits were determined by the Big Five model, in entrepreneurial intention research the starting point is most often Ajzen´s theory of planned behaviour, and as for gender differences in entrepreneurial intentions, they can be explained by feminism theories. Participants in the study were 330 male and female students of different faculties, different study forms and of different age. A one-time correlational scheme was used and for the purpose of this diploma thesis the participants were given the following measuring instruments: a questionnaire of demographic data (gender, faculty), a construct of entrepreneurial intentions taken from the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) and the Croatian version of The International Personality Item Pool 50 (IPIP). Using the statistical procedure of regression analysis, it was found that three personality traits (extroversion, agreeableness and intellect) were significant predictors of entrepreneurial intentions, whereby the dimensions of intellect and extroversion positively correlated with entrepreneurial intentions, as opposed to the dimension of agreeableness which correlated negatively with entrepreneurial intentions. It seems that only conscientiousness and emotional stability are not related to the level of entrepreneurial intentions. Additionally, the statistical procedure t-test showed that male students had a higher level of entrepreneurial intentions than was the case with female students.
