Abstract
Već je prva polovica 13. stoljeća bila obilježena prodorima Tatara i procesima širenja njihove moći. Na temelju navedenog, tematika tatarskih provala je uvelike obrađena - kako u europskoj, tako i u hrvatskoj historiografiji. Kao iznimni barbari, krvoločan narod, u određenim tekstovima i kanibali, Tatari su obilježili stvaralaštvo Tome Arhiđakona - koji se našao u gradu koji je zamalo pao pod njihovu opsadu. U svom kapitalnom djelu Historia Salonitana Toma u četiri poglavlja iznosi političke okolnosti, tijek i posljedice tatarske provale na našim prostorima pod ugarsko-hrvatskom krunom.
Abstract (english)
The first half of the 13th century was marked by the incursions of the Tatars and the processes of spreading their power. Based on that, the topic of Tatar persecutions has been extensively covered in both European and Croatian historiography. As exceptional barbarians, bloodthirsty people, in certain texts even cannibals, the Tatars marked the work of Thomas the Archdeacon, who found himself in a city that almost fell under their siege. Within four relevant chapters in his capital work Historia Salonitana, Thomas presents the political context, the flow of the consequences of the Tatar invasion on the lands under the rule of Hungarian-Croatian crown.
