Abstract
Istraživanja identiteta u kontekstu digitalnih tehnologija postoje, no fragmentirana su i upitna je primjenjivost njihovih zaključaka na koncept digitalnih igara, na promjene u vremenu i percepcije važnosti video igara za igrače. Nedostatak modela koji integrira spoznaje iz socijalne, kognitivne i razvojne psihologije koji nudi objašnjenje utjecaja digitalnih igara na identitet, samopercepciju i ponašanje osobe, potaknuo je provedbu istraživanja kojemu je cilj dobivanje uvida u mišljenje i stavove igrača. Provedbom kvalitativnog istraživanja dobiveni su rezultati koji pokazuju odmak od očekivanih teorijskih okvira iz literature. Rezultati su pokazali da kompetitivnost nije bitna za uživanje u igri, za osjećaj zaokupljenosti nije bitna vještina, a igranje uloga, istraživanje svijeta koji osobi nije dostupan ili samo sudjelovanje u virtualnom svijetu nadopunjuje ispunjavanje potreba koje osoba ima u realnosti.
Abstract (english)
Research of identity in the context of digital technologies exists, but the applicability of current conclusions to the concept of digital games and perceptions of the importance of video games for gamers is fragmented and questionable. The lack of a model that integrates knowledge from social, cognitive and developmental psychology and offers an explanation of the impact of digital games on a person's identity, self-perception and behavior, has prompted research aimed at gaining insight into players' opinions and attitudes. The use of qualitative research methods yielded results that are not fully in line with the expected theoretical frameworks. The results showed that competitiveness is not important for enjoying the game, skill is not important for immersion, and role-playing and exploring a world that is not available to a person, or just participating in a virtual world, complements fulfilling a person's real needs.
