Abstract (english) Every day we face an increase in the number of people suffering from malignant diseases. Malignant diseases include brain tumors, which due to their localization in the body can cause serious difficulties in the patient's life. Brain tumors or intracranial tumors are abnormal growths in the brain, and their formation is possible at any age. The choice of type of tumor treatment depends on the size, type and location of the tumor, as well as on the general state of the patient's body. Whenever possible, the tumor is removed by surgery. Although the goal of any surgery is to do as much work as possible with as few consequences as possible, some tumors can be removed with little or no damage to the surrounding brain tissue, while others cause some tissue damage that can cause partial paralysis, weakness, changes in sensation, and impairment intellect. From a medical point of view, quality of life is reflected as an individual's ability to live in a similar way (mentally, physically and socially) after therapy or medical intervention as before medical intervention or illness. Medical, psychological and social support is very important for patients in order to make it easier for a person to fight the disease and to positively influence the quality of life of that person.
The aim of this research work is to examine the quality of physical and psychological changes in the life of patients who were surgically treated for benign or malignant CNS tumors, regardless of stage.
From the research, it can be concluded that the majority of patients are satisfied with their quality of life and that patients are satisfied with patient care by the medical staff. Also, research has shown that patients stated that their image of themselves did not change significantly after brain tumor surgery. However, it is also clear that more work is needed in the area of quality of life for brain tumor patients. Appropriately powered, high-quality studies from descriptive to diagnostic to interventional in nature are needed to increase the quality and quantity of life of these patients.
Brain tumor surgery affects the patient's quality of life due to physical changes (possible immediate or permanent disability, dysphasia, reduced ability to care for oneself) and psychological changes (changes in self-image, mood changes).
