Abstract (english) Business communication skills represents a complex set of behaviors, functions, and practices in which communication styles, which are discussed in the paper, represent a key category. The literature used in the paper confirms several different models of leadership, the divisions of which differ according to authors and areas in which leadership is realized. There is talk of an autocratic, democratic, authoritative, and participative style of leadership and four different communication styles. Contemporary research shows, especially in the field of management, that forms of leadership are significantly gender-based. Globalization changes that enable women to be more involved in the labor market are a prerequisite for such findings and are a prerequisite for the advancement of women on the hierarchical scale. Leadership styles are traditionally divided into "male" and "female" leadership styles, whereby characteristics such as teamwork, participation, and greater involvement of employees in important topics stand out in the case of the female leadership style. The motivation for the research is based on the personal experience of working and participating in a business milieu in which the mentioned processes are visible in practice. The research presented here is shaped by qualitative methodology, and the empirical material is based on semi-structured interviews and elements of auto ethnographic experience. The aim of the research was to describe the communication styles of women in management positions from the perspective of the actors themselves. At the same time, the first, interpretive part of the paper explains the theoretical concepts of leadership and related communication styles in a gender perspective, while the second part, relying on empirical material, describes the real-life experiences of the interviewees, thereby reflecting the culture of leadership in the Croatian business context in modern times.
