Abstract (english) Introduction: Today, it is increasingly mentioned that euthanasia should be legitimate (as some European and US countries have done), referring first of all to the compassion towards inexhaustible sick and progressive, chronic diseases in old age. Explaining how their lives in such situations become completely meaningless and below any level of human dignity. How much is the euthanasia morally justified or should we all still see and respect other circumstances that euthanasia shows in another way. In the new era of professional development, the nursing job has access to people at the border of life and death, which gives them serious weight and responsibility to different workplaces. Aim: Find out how many nurses are familiar with the concept of euthanasia. What is the attitude of medical nurses / technicians about accepting euthanasia as a merciless murder of an incurable sick person. They support the idea that life is something special and that no one has the right to seize it. Do they consider that every human being decides independently of his life and death as well. Determining whether there are differences in opinions regarding workplace, educational structure, gender, family status, married or not, whether they are parents or not. Subjects and Methods: The survey was conducted among 147 nurses of different educational and age structure employed in the General Hospital of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Health Center and the Dubrovnik Pensioners' House and Domus Christi. A survey was constructed on the basis of the current research adapted to this research. The survey contained four questions related to demographic characteristics and 18 related to knowledge and attitudes. Outcomes: Most of the respondents 60% support euthanasia no matter of sex and age. A big influence on attitudes and opinions has a job, as confirmed by 51% of respondents. Discussion: The fact is that euthanasia brings together more and more followers. In this study, conducted among 147 respondents with different qualifications and marital status, we received data that „for euthanasia“ and „against euthanasia“ most respondents approve euthanasia in the Republic of Croatia (60.5%), which is similar to previous research. Conclusion: Research has shown that there is more and more followers and has been widely accepted among medical staff. Today, palliative care and the digniti od dying are more important, and we can hope that some future research will bring different results.
