Abstract CILJ:
Prikazati incidenciju akutnog glaukoma u Dubrovačko-neretvanskoj županiji
Abstract (english) OBJECTIVES:
Presenting the incidence of acute angle-closure glaucoma in Dubrovnik-Neretva County
METHODS:
A retrospective study of the documentation from Ophthalmology and Optometry Department which analyses the patients suffering from acute angle-closure glaucoma in the period from January 1, 1995 until December 31, 2017.
RESULTS:
The study covers 116 subjects who were diagnosed with acute angle-closure glaucoma in the period from January 1,1995 until December 31, 2017. The largest number of those suffering from acute angle-closure glaucoma was 9 in 1995, whereas the lowest number was 2 in 2016. In 65 cases the right eye was affected, while the left eye was affected in 51 cases. The difference itself was not statistically significant (p=0.19). The average annual number of the patients suffering from acute angle-closure glaucoma was 5.
After establishing the diagnosis the largest number of those affected by the disease (i.e. 46,6%) were treated with medication.
Comparing the visual acuity at the admission to the visual acuity at the discharge, the visual acuity was increased in case of 54 patients (46,6%), it remained unchanged in case of 45 (38,8%) patients, and decreased in case of 17 patients (14,6%).
CONCLUSION
The incidence of acute angle-closure glaucoma in this study is 4 per 100,000 in Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
