The linking up of companies allows for faster technological and economic development, better access to funding sources, opens up opportunities for conquering new markets as well as increasing competitiveness through sharing technology and knowledge. Different forms of corporate affiliation allow for greater flexibility of work through network options instead of classical hierarchical management, leading to better and more efficient business while at the same time limiting business risk to individual societies. In modern economy, linking existing companies is a more frequent form of fundraising rather than establishing new ones. The most important question posed regarding affiliated societies is the issue of will or authority and where it is defined. So, whether volition is defined within a society or in another society that then, through membership or on the basis of a contract, imposes its will on the will of society. Such influence of another company may sometimes be detrimental to the interests of creditors, other members of society as well as for the sole society.
