The main subject of this master thesis is the analysis of the impact of different cultural behavior patterns on business negotiations in NAFTA countries – United States of America, Canada and Mexico. There are defined the terms of business negotiations, international business negotiations and international economic integration, analyzing the phases of negotiation process, the negotiating strategies and tactics, and the impact of culture on negotiation process. The master thesis also considers the historical emergence of NAFTA, as well as its business effects, and there are briefly presented geografical, demographic and economic characteristics of each NAFTA member states. However, the main focus of this master thesis is put on general negotiating features in the above mentioned countries: time sensitivity, individualism / collectivism, interrelations and communication, and on conclusion of a contract, initial contacts and the position of women in business. Then the main conclusion of this master thesis is made, and it says that for business negotiators it is of extraordinary importance to get acquainted with other culture, or to acquire the basic rules of that culture's behavior and thus to show a respect, to build trust and not to form prejudice as they encourage distrust and disruption of interpersonal relationships.
