Green roofs are becoming more and more popular across the Europe, and Croatian Republic is no exception. In time, the materials have developed to such level that it is possible to construct a green roof that will last, and stay as high-quality, for over 40 years. Apart from the correct installation of all the layers, it is highly important to pay great attention to installation of drainage devices, edge profiles that separate parts of the green roof, as well as place a security fence in case the roof functions as a terrace. As there is increasingly more awareness about the problems of pollution, lack of space, global warming and air pollution, green roofs have become a popular solution for said problems in cities. Apart from protecting the building from harmful impacts of the Sun and weather, green roofs also provide habitat for various bugs, insects and birds, and also people feel more comfortable in green surroundings. In order to provide correct information about green roofs in Croatia, the information for this paper was provided by two large German companies that operate in Croatia and provide distribution of the required materials and systems for green roofs – Bauder Ltd. and Knauf Insulation Ltd. The analysis will be done on the sample of about 20 green roofs that were constructed in Croatia in the last few years. The results will be divided by the region in which the roofs were found, by the surface of the roof, by the purpose of the building, by the type of the roof, and by the year of construction. The trends in green roof construction in the Republic of Croatia are presented through the examples of already constructed green roofs.
