The topic of this academic work is testing programming CNC machines in manufacturing using CAD/CAM softwares to simplify the process of programming and to shorten the time needed to program a CNC machine. Nowdays, classic machine tools are being replaced by CNC machines to increase productivity of both simple and complicated parts, and to improve quality of processed surfaces. For such machines it is necessary to generate a G-code with which the control unit will operate the machine. Generating a G-code can be done manually, but it can also be programmed using a CAD/CAM applications. This academic work will give an overview on CAD/CAM and CNC machining. In the first part of this academic work, G-code for the milling cutter will be generated, and then the processing of it will be tested and simulated using SolidCAM software. Prior to the G-code generation, milling cutter will be modeled using SolidWorks. In the second part, a detailed description of work process on the Hitachi Super hicell 250 production of the above mentioned milling cutter will be described. Furthermore, gadget which will help to make milling cutter will be constructed and made. This academic work focuses on the production, more precisely on the practical part, problems and solutions that came up during the making of final work.
