Abstract (english) Stress is a complex system of action and reaction, stimuli and responses, while burnout syndrome is the result of chronic stress in the workplace that is not dealth with in a timely manner. Nurses/technicians and other ambulance staff are very often subjected to various stressful stimuli (poor organization, danger, conflicts, shift work, etc ...), which can easily lead to burnout syndrome and thus jeopardize efficiency and health of the employees. The paper will deal with the topic of stress experienced in the work environment, respectively experiencing the burnout syndrome of health professionals in the workplace, with a review of valid literature.
The research was conducted on the ambulance staff (doctors, nurses/technicians and drivers), and a total of 114 employees of the Zagreb County ambulance services participated; branches Velika Gorica, Sveti Ivan Zelina, Ivanić Grad, Dugo Selo, Vrbovec, Samobor, Jastrebarsko and Zaprešić. The aim of this research is to show what level of stress is experienced by the ambulace staff and what factors influenced it the most. Using the standardized questionnaire Stress in the workplace of hospital health workers, we examined which factors have the most influence on stress of employees and what is the level of stress that employees feel. Statistical analysis confirmed one of the four hypotheses and the results showed that the factor Public criticism and lawsuits cause the greatest stress of all individual factors. In the discussion, we presented certain shortcomings of the research itself and compared the results with other research so that we could find unified causes of stress, but also problematic points of work in the ambulance service.
