osoba starije životne dobi. Starija osoba u prosjeku oboli između tri i pet puta godišnje.
Respiratorni sustav najotvoreniji je i najizloženiji od svih organskih sustava. Obzirom na
njegov neprekidan kontakt sa vanjskim svijetom, podložan je nastanku velikog broja
infekcija, a ostali razlozi velike učestalosti respiratornih infekcija koje se javljaju kod starih
ljudi nalaze se u brojnosti i prirodi uzročnika. Definiranjem respiratornih infekcija daje se
uvod u temu, a na to se nadovezuje anatomija i fiziologija respiratornog sustava te uvid u
infekcije gornjeg dišnog sustava koje su karakteristične za starije osobe, zatim infekcije
donjeg dišnog sustava koje se javljaju kod starijih osoba, a nadovezuje se i COVID-19, kao
nova respiratorna bolesti i njen utjecaj na zdravlje starih ljudi. Koje se infekcije pojavljuju te
koji su popratni simptomi, kako se manifestiraju kod starih ljudi te na koncu kako se i liječe
sve su pitanja na koja će se dati odgovor u ovom radu. Medicinske sestre imaju važnu ulogu i
zadatak prilikom uzimanja uzorka za daljnji postupak zbrinjavanja i liječenja pacijenta stoga
je važno naglasiti koji su točno njihovi zadaci te na koji način ih obavljaju. Osim važnosti
medicinskih sestara u liječenju respiratornih infekcija kod starijih osoba, velika važnost treba
se pridati upravo prevenciji respiratornih infekcija, valja naglasiti kako se starije osobe mogu
zaštititi i tako promijeniti strukturu pobola i smrti staračkog pučanstva uzrokovanih
infekcijama respiratornog sustava uz očuvanje njihove funkcionalne sposobnosti. Uvjetovano
je to pretpostavkom o učincima što djelotvornije, primjerenije, svrsishodnije, dostupnije i
racionalnije zaštite zdravlja i gerijatrijske zdravstvene zaštite starijih ljudi.
Abstract (english) Respiratory tract infections are the most common infections that occur in the elderly. The
elderly get sick on average between three and five times a year. The respiratory system is the
most open and exposed of all organ systems. Due to its constant contact with the outside
world, it is susceptible to a large number of infections, and other reasons for the high
frequency of respiratory infections that occur in the elderly are in the number and nature of
the causative agents. Defining respiratory infections provides an introduction to the topic,
followed by the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system and vision in upper
respiratory tract infections that are characteristic of the elderly, then lower respiratory tract
infections that occur in the elderly, and COVID-19, as a new respiratory disease and its
impact on the health of the elderly. What infections occur and what are the accompanying
symptoms, how they manifest in the elderly in the end and how to treat all the essential
questions that will be answered in this paper. Nurses have an important role and task when
taking a sample for further care and treatment of patients so it is important to emphasize
exactly what their tasks are and how they perform them. In addition to the importance of
nurses in the treatment of respiratory infections in the elderly, great importance should be
given to the prevention of respiratory infections, it should be emphasized that the elderly can
protect themselves and thus change the structure of morbidity and death of the elderly caused
by respiratory infections. This is conditioned by the assumption of the effects of the most
effective, appropriate, purposeful, accessible and rational health care and geriatric health care
for the elderly.
