Abstract Ovaj rad se bavi abdominalnim ozljedama u prometnim nesrećama.
Abstract (english) This work deals with abdominal injuries in traffic accidents. Traffic accidents are the third most common external cause of death in the Republic of Croatia. Globally and nationally, this is a significant public health problem, with most young people being killed. Injuries do not have to result in death, and in order to avoid this, timely and fast access to the injured person, accurate assessment of the injury or diagnosis, and patient care are required. In the case of abdominal injuries, blunt and penetrating injuries occur, and possibly a combination of the same. Blunt injuries are more common, which are also much more difficult to identify due to frequent absence of pain in the abdominal region and associated injuries. Due to the mentioned fact, mortality is more common in blunt abdominal injuries. The first ITLS examination must go in a specific order, and the FAST ultrasound examination is the most useful in diagnosing an injury. In abdominal injuries in traffic accidents, time is a critical factor and the suspicion of associated abdominal injuries should not be ruled out. Although non-invasive methods of caring for patients with abdominal injuries due to traffic accidents are increasingly used, sometimes surgical intervention is unavoidable. The expertise and familiarity of medical staff with the necessary procedures for abdominal injuries of patients, including nurses, plays an important role in the process of access and stabilization and increase the likelihood of patient survival.
