Abstract (english) Cardiovascular diseases, as the name suggests, are diseases of the heart and blood vessels and as such are the leading cause of death worldwide. Coexistence with a person suffering from cardiovascular diseases, brought a unique idea of the topic of the final paper: "Risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the young population." Data from the World Health Organization show a mortality rate exceeding 17.5 million. The life of a sick person is demanding and insists on the effort and personal responsibility of the patient, but no less on the effort and support of those around him. As the disease is no longer closely related to the older population, the aim of this study was to examine the familiarity of the younger population with cardiovascular diseases as well as with the risk factors that lead to them. Also, do they think that they should receive more information and who according to them would be the most competent to conduct education on a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent disease. As a research method, a survey questionnaire was used, consisting of 19 questions that the respondents answered either by circling one or more offered answers or by adding to the questions asked. The analysis of the results showed that in many families of the respondents there is a person suffering from cardiovascular diseases, but also the presence of harmful life habits in the respondents who are themselves aware that they lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases. Also, the research found that in the younger population there is insufficient information and desire to obtain higher and more detailed information on risk factors for the disease, which in their opinion would be obtained through education in schools, then by doctors, nurses and the media. Given the results, it is concluded that the younger population is insufficiently familiar with cardiovascular diseases and the risks for their occurrence. More information, more extensive and earlier education would influence their life habits which play a big role in the prevention of the diseases themselves.
