Today's market requires precise workpieces for parts that are installed in the same assemblies and it is no longer sufficient to process such on classic machines to achieve a lower price and higher quality. Other reasons for this are that these are complex surfaces that cannot be manufactured by conventional processing methods. If they could be produced by conventional processing methods, they would not be competitive in today’s market. This is why every serious company has replaced old classic machines with CNC machines. Likewise, as technology and development progress, some new, not yet fully present machines have emerged, which with new additive technology also produce complex and precise products. This final work compares the fabrication of CNC milling on a three-axis machining center and the additive method of 3D metal printing. The first (theoretical) part describes the development of machines and their functioning. The second part deals with a specific workpiece for production with two different methods. For this purpose, a 3D model was created in the SolidWorks program, and after that a CNC program was created in SolidCAM. After creating the CNC program, the generated code was controlled by the CIMCO edit program. The Materialize Magics program was used to use additive methods, ie 3D printing from metal. After the simulation of 3D printing, the 3D model is topologically optimized. The analysis and comparison of the used methods was finally made.
