Abstract (english) Burnout syndrome in the workplace means a gradual loss of energy, ideals, but also faith of meaning in our own work. It arises as a result of the daily stress and frustrations we encounter in the workplace. The process of developing burnout syndrome in the workplace can be divided into four phases: the honeymoon phase (great work enthusiasm), the reality phase (stagnation), the disappointment phase (emotional withdrawal and isolation) and the alarm phase (apathy development). It is manifested by loss of willing to work, development of a negative attitude towards work, insensitivity towards others, feelings of hopelessness and helplessness appear, depressive behavior occurs.
The aim of the study was to examine and demonstrate the burnout of nurses working in a polyclinic for a chronic hemodialysis program through the measurement of emotional exhaustion, feelings of depersonalization, and feelings of diminished personal accomplishment. Also the goal was to show the relationship between combustion according to the age of the respondents, gender, level of education, length of service and place of work.
The research included nurses of the International Dialysis Center Zabok and the Sv. Duh II. Nurses from the dialysis of the General Hospital Karlovac and nurses of the united emergency hospital admission of the General Hospital Zabok were taken as a control group. The study was conducted between February 15, 2021 and May 15, 2021, and involved 72 nurses. To assessment degree of burnout we used two parts questionnaire : the part examining sociodemographic characteristics and the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey.
Nurses working on hemodialysis (acute and chronic forms) show an average degree of burnout in experiencing competence and achievement in working with patients, but amazing low emotional exhaustion and patient insensitivity.
