Abstract | Cijepljenje možemo slobodno prozvati jednim od većih medicinskih uspjeha 20. stoljeća.
Gledajući znanja o virusu SARS-CoV-2 značajno više sudionika smatra kako posjeduje dovoljno znanja 93 % (436) o porijeklu virusa (χ2df1=246,8; p<0,001) te o najpreciznijoj dijagnostici istog 66 % (309) (χ2df1=61,526; p<0,001). O registriranim cjepivima u RH značajno više 76 % (356) ispitanika (χ2df1=142,64; p<0,001) pokazuje znanje o njihovom broju i jednodoznom doziranju Janssen/Jonhnson&Johnson cjepiva (χ2df1=186,16; p<0,001). |
Abstract (english) | Vaccination is undoubtedly one of the major medical successes of the 20th century. In 2019, at the end of December, in the city of Wuhan, China, a highly contagious and hitherto unknown respiratory disease suddenly appeared. Before COVID-19 disease appeared, the coronavirus had so far occurred twice in severe form as SARS and MERS. Incubation of the disease lasts from 2 to 14 days, and diagnostic methods are molecular testing (PCR test), rapid antigen test, serological and radiological diagnosis. With the appearance of SARS-CoV-2 virus in the whole world and in the Republic of Croatia, great efforts are being made in the fight against the aforementioned virus. So far, four vaccines against this virus have been registered in the Republic of Croatia, namely: Comirnaty BioNTech-Pfizer, Spikevax-Moderna, Vaxevria-AstraZeneca and Janssen-Johnson & Johnson.
The survey was conducted in the period from June 28, 2021 to August 31, 2021 and consisted of a total of 28 questions about knowledge and attitudes about the SARS-CoV-2 virus and about attitudes and knowledge about vaccination against it. The participants in the research were 467 health professionals. The aim of the research part of the thesis was to prove the assumption that a majority of health professionals are vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 virus and would recommend it to their relatives, to consider the vaccine safe and the assumption that a significant majority of health professionals have general knowledge about the characteristics and origin of the virus, as well as registered SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccines.
The results indicate that more than half of 58% (272) of vaccinated health professionals against SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is significantly more (χ2df1=37,523; p<0.001) than unvaccinated. Most of them (χ2df1=21,382; p<0.001) of them would advise their relatives to be vaccinated against this virus 54% (250), which shows that a positive attitude about the vaccine still prevails. When vaccine safety is concerned, 41% (191) of health professionals consider it sife, the opposite is considered by 19% (90) of them, while 40% (186) are unsure. Looking at the knowledge about the virus, significantly more participants consider they have adequate knowledge (93%; N=436) about the origin of the virus (χ2df1=246.8; p<0.001) and the means of accurate diagnosis (66%; N=309) (χ2df1=61.526; p<0.001). Significantly more 76% (356) of respondents (χ2df1=142.64; p<0.001) show knowledge about the number of registered vaccine options and single-dose Janssen vaccine (χ2df1=186.16; p<0.001). A total of 67% (312) of respondents believe that the cheapest vaccine is Vaxevria - AstraZeneca, which represents a significantly higher proportion (χ2df1=100.16; p<0.001). |
