Abstract Karcinom testisa predstavlja najčešći oblik karcinoma među mladim muškarcima u mnogim
dijelovima svijeta.
Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje razinu znanja i stavove studenata Sveučilišta Sjever o karcinomu
testisa i samopregledu testisa. Ciljevi istraživanja uključuju ispitivanje razine znanja i stavova
studenata, te analizu potencijalnih statistički značajnih razlika u znanju i provođenju samopregleda
testisa s obzirom na dob, mjesto stanovanja, razinu obrazovanja i znanstveno područje studija.
Metodologija istraživanja uključuje provedbu anketnog upitnika među studentima Sveučilišta
Sjever.
Abstract (english) Testicular cancer represents the most common form of cancer among young men in many
parts of the world. Its specific distribution among young individuals makes it not only a medical
challenge but also a social issue that requires early detection, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate
treatment to increase survival rates and improve the quality of life for those affected. One of the
key preventive strategies is testicular self-examination, a simple, non-invasive, and accessible way
to monitor one's own health.
This master's thesis explores the level of knowledge and attitudes of University North students
about testicular cancer and testicular self-examination. The research objectives include examining
the level of knowledge and attitudes of students, as well as analyzing potential statistically
significant differences in knowledge and the practice of testicular self-examination based on age,
place of residence, educational level, and field of study.
The research methodology involves conducting a survey among University of North students. The
results of the study indicate a variable level of knowledge among students, with those in the
biomedical and healthcare field exhibiting a higher level of knowledge about testicular cancer
compared to students from other study programs. Additionally, students with a graduate degree
demonstrated a higher level of knowledge than those with a high school or undergraduate
education.
The study identified deficiencies in recognizing testicular cancer as a common disease among
young people, highlighting the need to increase awareness on this topic. Awareness regarding
testicular self-examination also requires additional attention and education, given the low rate of
practice among students.
This work contributes to understanding the knowledge and attitudes of students about testicular
cancer and identifies areas that require further education and awareness. It also emphasizes the
importance of the role of nurses as healthcare professionals in educating and implementing
preventive programs aimed at different groups of men to improve testicular cancer prevention and
the health of young men.
