Abstract Završni rad istražuje ključnu ulogu fizioterapije u rehabilitaciji pretilih pacijenata nakon
vježbe i druge metode. Također se ističe važnost educiranja pacijenata o ulozi fizioterapije i
realnim očekivanjima za oporavak. Pojašnjavaju se individualizirani planovi rehabilitacije,
suradnje s multidisciplinarnim timom, način pravilnog upravljanja tjelesnom težinom i prehrane
kardiovaskularnih komplikacija. Ističe se ključna uloga fizioterapije u optimizaciji oporavka
pretilih pacijenata nakon ortopedskih operacija. Opći ciljevi fizioterapije, poput upravljanja i
kontrole boli, obnavljanja pokretljivosti i postizanja funkcionalne neovisnosti, trebaju se posebno
razmotriti i prilagoditi u slučaju fizioterapije za pretile osobe s endoprotezama kuka i koljena. To
Abstract (english) The final paper explores the key role of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation of obese patients
after orthopedic surgery, especially joint replacement surgery such as hip and knee replacement.
Emphasis is placed on the specific needs and challenges faced by obese patients during
rehabilitation. Furthermore, the importance of early mobilization after surgery and the contribution
of physiotherapists who help patients in training for independent performance of basic daily
activities are highlighted. Adaptation of rehabilitation programs to obese patients is studied, with
special emphasis on specific challenges and causes of excess body weight, such as pain and
discomfort management and improvement of joint mobility and general functionality through
therapeutic exercises and other methods. The importance of educating patients about the role of
physiotherapy and realistic expectations for recovery is also emphasized. Individualized
rehabilitation plans, cooperation with a multidisciplinary team, proper weight management and
nutrition, and prevention of complications such as wound healing problems and respiratory and
cardiovascular complications are explained. The key role of physiotherapy in optimizing the
recovery of obese patients after orthopedic surgery is emphasized. The general goals of
physiotherapy, such as pain management and control, regaining mobility and achieving functional
independence, should be specifically considered and adapted in the case of physiotherapy for obese
people with hip and knee arthroplasties. This is necessary in order to ensure a safe and successful
rehabilitation, as well as the prevention of possible complications. The importance of adjusting the
therapy according to the body mass, mobility and specific needs of each patient is emphasized.
Also, the role of physiotherapists in encouraging and providing positive support to help patients
stay committed to their rehabilitation regimen is emphasized.
