Abstract S obzirom na rastući broj starijih osoba u populaciji, pružanje adekvatne zdravstvene skrbi postaje sve važniji izazov.
Abstract (english) Given the growing number of elderly people in the population, providing adequate health care is becoming an increasingly important challenge. In nursing homes, pain management is a key aspect of care that directly affects the quality of life of residents. Pain in the elderly can be the result of various chronic conditions, such as arthritis, neuropathy and malignant processes, and is often accompanied by physical, emotional and social consequences. Effective pain management requires a holistic approach that includes various assessment and treatment methods, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous staff education. The identification and assessment of pain should be based on the individual needs of each resident, with the use of appropriate tools to measure the intensity and type of pain. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the key elements in pain management in nursing homes, highlighting the importance of a comprehensive approach that combines pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. The research was conducted using Google Forms, an online anonymous questionnaire. A total of 141 nurses/technicians participated in the research. The research aims to emphasize the importance of a systematic and adaptive approach to pain management, as well as the way in which nurses manage pain and what kind of pain they encounter in their work. We can see from the research that the interviewed nurses/technicians are very well versed in the nature of pain that their users feel, we see that the most commonly used group of analgesics is paracetamol, and that the vast majority of respondents occasionally use pain assessment scales in their work. Nurses and technicians employed in nursing homes are in an interesting situation. Their often independent way of working improves their knowledge and gives them the experience to recognize the pain of their residents in a relatively timely and quality manner. All in order to enable the elderly to live a quality and dignified life in their golden years.
