muškarce i žene.
ponovnog pojavljivanja.
njihovoj njezi i liječenju
Abstract (english) Diverticulitis is a medical term that refers to inflammation or infection of diverticula,
canton-canton of small protrusions on the walls of the colon or small intestine. Diverticula are
usually present on the walls of the intestine and often do not cause problems. However, when
one or more diverticula become inflamed or infected, it leads to a condition known as
diverticulitis. At the beginning of the 20th century, diverticulosis affected 5-10% of the
population, and a century later 20-50% of people over the age of 60 had diverticular disease.
Today, diverticulosis is more and more common in younger people after the age of 40, and
sometimes it becomes much less common before the age of 40. This disease affects both men
and women. Intestinal diverticulosis is the fifth most common disease of the digestive system.
Diverticulitis is a serious condition that requires medical diagnosis and treatment. Early
treatment can prevent serious complications. Also, maintaining a healthy, high-fiber diet and
staying hydrated can help prevent diverticulitis or reduce the risk of it recurring.
Each patient is treated with a holistic and individualized approach, and the care of the patient
is led by several specialists who make up a multidisciplinary team, including a nurse/technician.
The role of nurses/technicians in the team is significant, and it is reflected in the education of
patients and their care and treatment
The aim of this paper is to examine the incidence and treatment of diverticulitis in the OB
Zabok and the Croatian Veterans Hospital in the period from 2018 to 2022. From the obtained
data, it can be concluded that older people had a higher prevalence of diverticula than younger
people, and that women made up the majority of hospitalized patients compared to men. From
the collected data on the incidence of patients with diverticulosis, most patients were
hospitalized with a diagnosis of diverticulosis of the large intestine without perforation or
abscess. In most patients, the treatment outcome was improvement with a small number of
deaths. The method of treating patients was mostly conservative, while there was no difference
between emergency operations and elective operations.
