Abstract Turizam doživljava promjene u globalnom kontekstu. Inovacije unaprijeđuju poslovanje svih u lancu distribucije, principala, posrednika i naposlijetku klijenata. Inovativnost se ogleda kroz specijalizirane ponude, održivi razvoj, sigurnost klijenata, diversifikaciji, praćenje kvalitete i dr. Informacijska i komunikacijska tehnologija potiču učinkovitije poslovanje i ostvarivanje konkurentske prednosti. Krizni i destinacijski menadžment postaju prioritet razvojnih strategija.
Abstract (english) Tourism is experiencing great changes in the global context. In such circumstances, tourism intermediaries are facing great challenges, as consumer habits are changing, ICT technologies are being used, new tourism products/innovations are being developed, online intermediaries are emerging, the number of individual bookings is growing, because of competitors pressure, etc. Innovations improve business performance of all participants in the distribution chain; the principal, the intermediary and the end consumer. Innovativeness is reflected in specialized offerings, corporate social responsibility, customer safety, diversification, quality monitoring, etc. Information and communication technologies encourage more efficient business operations and, consequently, gaining competitive advantage. Online distribution and ecommerce are gaining momentum. An adaptation has been developed by meeting specific customer requirements that motivate the creation of new flexible offers i.e. dynamic and tailor made packages. Due to changes in market trends, the consumer is becoming the dominant category of interest and added values are formed to generate the development of long-term relationships with customers. When collaborating with partners, the entire business model should be focused on excellence/quality, customer orientation, partnership culture, development of added value products, corporate social responsibility. Crisis and destination management are becoming a priority in development strategies. Low-cost carriers have taken the opportunity and taken over a significant market share from charter airlines thanks to the flexibility they offer in terms of flight schedule and low fares. The success of intermediaries is based on their capability to adapt to changes. This paper aims at identifying the contemporary trends represented by the impacts of new technologies that influence changes in intermediary business processes. It analyses in particular the activities, goals and impacts on the tourism market.
