Abstract (english) A game is a phenomenon which cannot be fully and accurately described just by one operational definition. A game is not just a powerful tool in child’s development but also a method for achieving various child-raising and educational tasks. Almost every child, during its early development, spends the most of its time playing. For a child, a game represents physical and emotional fun and satisfaction. Many researchers emphasize that the game is the one thing through emphasize that the game is the one thing through which the children develop on a social, cognitive and emotional level. When their physical growth and development reaches the point where they can pick up the objects by themselves and manipulate them, children then begin to actively play with various objects from the environment. The work shows features and differences of the traditional and modern games intended, for preschool children and also shows comparison of three traditional and three modern Istrian games for preschoolers, which follow the NTC system of learning.
