Abstract (english) The reason a person is willing to do something depends on the motive that encourages him or her. The importance of the motive depends on the quality of the work done, whether the person is self-motivated or there is an external stimulus. If something is of great importance, the amount of motivation should be high and thus easier and faster to reach the goal. Motivation can be divided into two basic levels, success and survival because of the relative superiority of needs organized into a hierarchical structure. Maintaining the levels of energy, dedication and creativity that employees have at work is an ongoing and exhausting process where managers have to invest a lot of time and effort because each person is different and motivated by different things. Employee satisfaction should be the fundament of success in organization and retaining employees. The aim of this paper was to present the basic theories of motivation and to present them on the example of a company.
