Abstract Turizam je fenomen koji spaja razne djelatnosti suvremenog doba, iako ga ne možemo definirati isključivo kao gospodarsku granu uvelike utječe na razvoj gospodarstva i ekonomije općenito, takvu situaciju imamo i u našoj zemlji, s naglaskom na Istru koja prednjači u gotovo svim aspektima. Početak razvoja turizma u Istri nazire se još u doba Rimskog carstva. Ono što je Istru populariziralo kao destinaciju kroz povijest je njezina geografska lokacija u blizini srednje i sjeverne Europe, te prirodna i društvena osnova uz bogatu tradiciju i nekad jače izražene ljudske potencijale. Bitan faktor koji Istru dijeli od ostalih Hrvatskih destinacija i što je čini boljom u odnosu na slične ponude prvenstveno je ponuda selektivnih oblika turizma kao pojedinačnih turističkih proizvoda. Naravno puno je prostora za rad i napredak još otvoreno i neiskorišteno, ali uz promjene na globalnoj razini svjedočimo i promjenama u području Istarske Županije. Selektivni oblici javili su se početkom 70 – tih godina 20 – tog stoljeća kako bi masovni turizam dobio alternativu, održiv i odgovoran turizam. Selektivni oblici ustvari obuhvaćaju putovanja kojima je glavni razlog ili cilj ostvarivanje posebnog interesa kao i uživanje u njemu, a to može bit aktivnost u prirodi, određena tematika ili vrsta atrakcije kao takve. Realna slika selektivnih oblika turizma u Istri ukazuje na puno mogućnosti za razvoj, osobito zdravstvenog i sportskog turizma dok su ruralni turizam uključujući gastronomski turizam i nautički turizam uzeli zamaha i prate ih pozitivni trendovi. Raznolika i bogata ponuda stvorila je međunarodno priznati imidž Istre kao destinacije koju danas posjećuju gosti iz svih krajeva svijeta. Turistička ponuda Istre je vrlo atraktivna i dinamična kategorija o kojoj je teško donijeti jedinstveni zaključak. Smjer razvoja turističkog proizvoda je upravljan izradom master plana turizma, u kojem su navedene sve atraktivnosti i konkurentnosti. Razvoj proizvoda je kao takov povezan sa praktično svim ostalim operativnim strategijama postavljenim master planom. Na posljetku treba reći da je potrebno poboljšati ponudu u manje posjećenim mjesecima gdje ima prostora za napredak te da se fokus stavi na ruralni razvoj, sport i gastronomiju kako bi se smanjio pritisak u ljetnoj sezoni i kako bi Istra bila posjećena regijom tijekom cijele godine.
Abstract (english) Tourism is a phenomenon that combines various activities of modern times, although we can not define it exclusively as an economic branch greatly affects the development of the economy and the economy in general, we have such a situation in our country, with emphasis on Istria leading in almost all aspects. The beginning of the development of tourism in Istria can be seen in the time of the Roman Empire. What has popularized Istria as a destination throughout history is its geographical location near Central and Northern Europe, and its natural and social basis with a rich tradition and once more pronounced human potential. An important factor that separates Istria from other Croatian destinations and what makes it better compared to similar offers is primarily the offer of selective forms of tourism as individual tourist products. Of course, a lot of space for work and progress is still open and unused, but in addition to changes at the global level, we are also witnessing changes in the area of Istria County. Istria stands out for its selective forms of tourism and great potential for their development. Selective forms emerged in the early 1970s to give mass tourism an alternative, sustainable and responsible tourism. Selective forms actually include trips whose main reason or goal is to achieve a special interest as well as to enjoy it, and it can be an activity in nature, a certain topic or a type of attraction as such. The realistic picture of selective forms of tourism in Istria indicates many opportunities for development, especially health and sports tourism, while rural tourism, including gastronomic tourism and nautical tourism, have gained momentum and are accompanied by positive trends. The diverse and rich offer has created an internationally recognized image of Istria as a destination that is visited today by guests from all over the world. Istria's tourist offer is a very attractive and dynamic category about which it is difficult to draw a unique conclusion. The direction of tourism product development is managed by the development of a tourism master plan, which lists all the attractiveness and competitiveness. Product development as such is linked to virtually all other operational strategies set out in the master plan. Finally, it should be said that the offer needs to be improved in less visited months where there is room for improvement and that the focus should be on rural development, sports and gastronomy to reduce pressure in the summer season and to visit Istria throughout the year.
