Abstract Osnovna ideja je da obrazovni resursi budu lako dostupne samostalne cjeline koje u sebi sadrže obrazovne materijale, imaju mogućnost pretraživanja, lakog dijeljenja te mogućnost rada sa različitim sustavima. Standardizacija je složen proces koji se događa na više razina te obuhvaća brojne aspekte koje treba uzeti u obzir. Slično kao i standardizacija u različitim područjima ljudskog rada i života, standardizacija primijenjena na obrazovne tehnologije bi trebala omogućiti ponovnu iskoristivost, učinkovito dijeljenje i pretraživanje obrazovnih sadržaja te interoperabilnost između heterogenih sustava što bi bitno unaprijedilo i olakšalo obrazovanje. Jednostavna ideja je od početka gurala naprijed razvoj elektroničkog učenja. Ta ideja je da ne bi trebalo biti bitno koji alat se koristi za kreiranje sadržaja ili koji sustav e-učenja koristi bilo koja institucija. Interoperabilnost sustava za e-učenje označava temelj za integraciju s drugim on-line servisima, te je bitna za trajnost, dostupnost i ponovnu iskoristivost elektroničkih obrazovnih sadržaja. Svi elektronski obrazovni sadržaji trebali bi biti kompatibilni, bez obzira tko ih je razvio, i raditi sa platformama, alatima i sustavima raznih ponuđača/proizvođača. Da bi se ovo ostvarilo različiti sudionici procesa standardizacije dali su svoje prijedloge za razne probleme i potrebe koji su se javljali kroz povijest razvoja e- obrazovanja. Neki od tih prijedloga kasnije su postali opće prihvaćeni standardi
Abstract (english) The basic idea is that educational resources should be easily accessible independent units that contain educational materials, have the ability to search, easily share and the ability to work with different systems. Standardization is a complex multi-level process that encompasses a number of aspects that need to be considered. Similar to standardization in different areas of human work and life, standardization applied to educational technologies should enable reusability, efficient sharing and retrieval of educational content and interoperability between heterogeneous systems, which would significantly improve and facilitate education. The simple idea pushed the development of e-learning forward from the beginning. The idea is that it should not matter which tool is used to create the content or which e-learning system is used by any institution. The interoperability of e-learning systems is the basis for integration with other online services, and is essential for the sustainability, accessibility and reusability of electronic educational content. All e-learning content should be compatible, regardless of who developed it, and work with the platforms, tools and systems of various vendors / manufacturers. In order to achieve this, various participants in the standardization process gave their suggestions for various problems and needs that have arisen throughout the history of e-education. Some of these proposals later became generally accepted standards
