Nowadays, people are increasingly using products that use artificial intelligence. One of these products are video games, which are on the rise in use, children and young people cannot imagine everyday life without them. The aim of this paper is to explain and show in more detail the most popular techniques for implementing artificial intelligence in videogames. The paper defines the concept of video games, their application and the most popular genres. The video games that most influenced the development of artificial intelligence throughout history were mentioned and briefly explained. An analysis of the artificial intelligence techniques led to a conclusion about their advantages and disadvantages. Also, artificial intelligence is described in detail along with different approaches like supervised learning, unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning. The last chapter of the paper explains the possible future of artificial intelligence in videogames.
