omogućuju moderno računarstvo, a začetak im seže u drugu polovicu devetnaestoga
serveri i baze podataka.
Abstract (english) The topic being analyzed in this final paper is based on the challenges faced
by green information and communication technologies. The aim of this paper is
familiarizing the reader with the forementioned, observing the challenges through the
aspect of implementation as well as through the aspects of techniques and
approaches. Before introducing the reader to the challenges of green information and
communication technologies, it is necessary to introduce them to the world of
information and communication technologies in general, what they represent, what
their history and their components are, and what kind of influence they have, and the
same is contained in this final paper. Information and communication technologies,
also known for short as ICT, represent infrastructure and a set of different components
that enable modern computing, and their beginning goes back to the second half of
the nineteenth century. Green ICT started as a program known as Energy Star in 1992,
and today it represents a mean to reduce the negative impact of ICT on the
environment, which is aimed at reducing the amount of energy used by computers,
servers and databases.
