Abstract
Škotska se prostire na površini od oko 78.000 četvornih kilometara i nalazi se u sjevernom dijelu otoka Velike Britanije, a Škotskoj pripadaju i Hebridi, Orkney i Shetland. Na kopnu graniči s Engleskom i Walesom, koji zajedno sa Sjevernom Irskom čine Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo. Također ima izlaz na Atlantski ocean i Sjeverno more. Topografski, Škotska je podijeljena na tri dijela: južno se proteže Južno gorje, sredinom dominiraju depresije, a sjever zauzima Škotsko gorje i prostire se na obalnoj ravnici. Ovdje živi više od 5 milijuna stanovnika, a najveći broj živi u Edinburghu, političkom, kulturnom i industrijskom srcu zemlje. Smješten na Firth of Forth na istoku zemlje, grad je odredište koje svaki posjetitelj ne može zaobići.
Abstract (english)
Scotland covers an area of about 78,000 square kilometers and is located in the northern part of the island of Great Britain, and Scotland also includes the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland. On the mainland, it borders England and Wales, which together with Northern Ireland form the United Kingdom. It also has access to the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. Topographically, Scotland is divided into three parts: the Southern Highlands extend to the south, the middle is dominated by depressions, and the north is occupied by the Scottish Highlands and stretches on the coastal plain. More than 5 million inhabitants live here, and the largest number live in Edinburgh, the political, cultural and industrial heart of the country. Located on the Firth of Forth in the east of the country, the city is a destination that every visitor cannot miss.
