No njeno vađenje i transport predstavljaju velike rizike za okoliš. Izljev nafte uništava mora i oceane, i sav biljni i životinjski svijet u njemu, također i obale gdje ljudi borave.
Abstract (english) New technologies along with oil, nuclear, car and chemical industry were drastically accelerate ecological degradation in many countries. Nuclear disasters led by Chernobyl as the biggest one of its kind caused big damages not only in that one particular country but all over the Europe. Beside huge health problems, unemployment occurred as well as poverty, production and export decline, closing facilities and companies. Nuclear disaster in Chernobyl prompted many countries to design and build safer power plants.
Modern civilization is unimaginable without oil, but its extraction and transport represent huge risks for the environment. That is the time when most accidents actually happened, and some of them are catastrophic as mentioned the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Oil spill destroys the seas and oceans, and all wildlife in it, and also the coast where people reside. Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico led to the unemployment of a large number of people who lived by fishing, as well as those with sea-related activities. It destroyed the reputation of many companies that were involved in such activities and that took a long time to recover, and some didn’t pulled out of the crisis. British Petroleum, the company that caused all with lower current losses, continued operations and today is one of the biggest in its branch.
Natural disasters exist since the life on earth. But today their consequences increasing, because as the number of people on the planet increases the bigger the numbers of those who are affected, especially when it occurs in urban areas. Natural disasters have been partly caused by careless human activities, and are thus more devastating than ever. The earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Japan, not only took thousands of lives as well as devastated towns, but many people have lost their homes and jobs, facilities and companies closed. Japan suffered major damage and restoration is still going on. Tourism has also suffered damage because the area has become unattractive and many industries and the world-famous company were temporarily halt their production which caused huge losses.
