Abstract U teorijskom dijelu diplomskog rada objašnjen je pojam genetski modificiranih organizama te povijest njihovog nastanka i dolaska na svjetsko tržište. Opisani su GMO proizvodi, njihove prednosti te rizici vezani uz njihovu konzumaciju i korištenje. Napravljena je SWOT analiza snaga, prijetnji, slabosti i prilike GMO proizvoda te su navedeni poznati proizvodi u našoj okolini koji su zapravo genetski modificirani. Spomenuta je i prisutnost genetski modificiranih proizvoda u Hrvatskoj. Objašnjen je utjecaj genetski modificiranih organizama na zdravlje čovjeka te na poljoprivredu i poljoprivredne kulture. Navedene su kompanije koje proizvode GMO sjeme i proizvode te su uspoređeni organski i GMO proizvodi. Opisan je ekonomski aspekt GMO industrije te društveno odgovorno poslovanje kompanija koje se bave proizvodnjom GMO-a. Uz tu industriju veže se pojam korupcije, a ona je objašnjena na primjerima diljem svijeta i u Hrvatskoj. Navedene su antikorupcijske mjere koje se koriste u Hrvatskoj te je objašnjen utjecaj korupcije unutar GMO industrije na ljudsko zdravlje. Nadalje, opisana je zakonodavna borba protiv korupcije u GMO industriji. U praktičnom dijelu rada proveden je anketni upitnik o informiranosti ljudi o GMO proizvoda i njihovom korištenju te su potvrđene hipoteze postavljene na početku rada. Na kraju je rada kritički osvrt na provedeno istraživanje.
Abstract (english) In the theoretical part of the thesis, the concept of genetically modified organisms and the history of their origin and arrival on the world market are explained. GMO products, their advantages and risks related to their consumption and use are described. A SWOT analysis of the strengths, threats, weaknesses and opportunities of GMO products was made, and the known products in our environment that are actually genetically modified were listed. The presence of genetically modified products in Croatia was also mentioned. The impact of genetically modified organisms on human health and on agriculture and agricultural crops is explained. Companies that produce GMO seeds and products are listed and organic and GMO products are compared. The economic aspect of the GMO industry and the socially responsible business of companies engaged in the production of GMOs are described. The concept of corruption is associated with this industry, and it is explained by examples around the world and in Croatia. The anti-corruption measures used in Croatia are listed and the influence of corruption within the GMO industry on human health is explained. Furthermore, the legislative fight against corruption in the GMO industry is described. In the practical part of the work, a questionnaire was conducted on people's awareness of GMO products and their use, and the hypotheses set at the beginning of the work were confirmed. At the end, a critical review of the conducted research is given.
