Abstract (english) The purpose of this work is to explore to what extent children of preschool age are exposed to media and media content today, but also to determine what determinants of parents influence when, how long and why the child will expose the child to the media as well as the parents attitude about the media and its influences. The study was conducted with 131 parents of a Zagreb kindergarten during the month of April 2022. Today, the media are an integral part of life and affect almost all developmental stages in a child's life. The development of fine motor skills in children is lagging behind today, and traditional activities for the development of fine motor skills have been replaced by various applications that encourage the development of fine motor skills. Also, with all the influences of the media, there is an inevitable growing obesity and lack of movement in children caused by various advertisements and promotions of unhealthy food through various media content. The free time that children have, they often spend sitting, and thus remain completely physically inactive. It has been shown that the vast majority of parents expose their child to the media, already in the first year of the child's life, mainly to calm and occupy the child's attention while they do their work and obligations. It is positive that parents expose children to the media to stimulate their learning using various applications to stimulate development, usually through television, mobile phones or tablets. Today, more and more games in nature have been replaced by some media content. Adults should be a model by which children will adopt and develop their habits for spending free time in nature. The results show that most parents try to spend as much time as possible in nature, and believe that the media has a negative impact on children's development.
