In the theoretical part of this paper, the manufacturing process of a folding knife will be described and explained in detail, from the very beginning of a prototype sketch all the way to its final product. The introductory part will list where knives are being used in everyday life, types of knives, difference between fixed and folding knives and the history and development of the folding knife during the 20th and 21st century. Also will be explained which materials are used for the production and the proper selection for the handles, blade and fasteners. In the experimental part will show the production process of each element of the knife, the construction of all part in 3D software and the technological operations for making the element. Product quality control and assembly procedures will be presented. A total of 6 folding knives will be made. After finished production, the manufacturing cost will be calculated and compared with the cost of serial production of 5000 units.
