In thesis, the basics of casting and certain casting procedures are stated, different types of molds are defined and parts of the gating and feeding system are presented. The production process in the foundry is briefly explained and the quality control of the casting after solidification is shown as well as the removal of defects on the castings after spotting. The technology of casting in sand molds is described and the rules for constructing castings are specified. A simulation of casting in program NovaFlow&Solid is presented and described, which gives an insight into certain phenomena that occur during the casting of a casting and shows the possible causes of the occurrence of errors during casting, and in this way, the occurrence of these errors can also be prevented. At the end, an example of the casting of a massive casting (in this case, a lathe stand) is shown with pictures and a description, gray casting is defined as well as its chemical composition, and the Fe-C state diagram is briefly explained. Certain mechanical and technological properties of gray cast iron are shown, the melting of gray cast iron is shown, and the cupola furnaces used for melting raw materials to obtain gray cast iron are defined.
