Abstract | Svjedoci smo kako su mediji postali dijelom svakodnevnice u životu svih nas. Veliku ulogu u tome imaju roditelji i odgojitelji. |
Abstract (english) | We are witnessing how the media have become a part of everyday life in the life of
every individual. It’s almost unthinkable to find a single day of the year that doesn’t use the
media - going to the movies, watching or listening to a football game broadcast, sending an
email to a friend, all of this would be impossible without the media. The media have a great
impact on the lives of every individual, including children. In addition to many positive aspects
of the media, there are also negative ones, so it is extremely important to educate children in
the media from an early age. Teaching children about the media means teaching them to control
the use of the media and to learn how to independently and responsibly find appropriate content.
Parents and educators have a big role to play in this. However, in order for children to be media
literate, it is primarily necessary to educate parents, educators and all other educational staff
responsible for the child's safe use of the media. Television is one of the media that mainly
serves children and young people for entertainment and leisure. But in addition to
entertainment, television proved to be extremely important in the educational process due to
the pandemic caused by the contagious virus COVID-19 when teaching for the lower grades of
primary school took place precisely through television sets. Parents have a big role in the habits
of watching television because, as is well known, children learn by model, so if parents watch
television uncontrollably, they will do the same themselves. Talking about the content watched
and agreeing on the rules while watching television are key factors in preventing the negative
effects of television on children. Today, digital competencies of educators are becoming equal
to other competencies needed to work in kindergarten, as traditional forms of documentation
and even communication with parents are increasingly being replaced by digital forms. Digital
technologies are evolving almost every day, so it is very important to educate and computerize
educators and parents in order to properly educate younger generations. |
