Virtualna stvarnost pruža posebno iskustvo doživljaja virtualnog svijeta, stvarajući potpuno uranjajuće virtualno okruženje i omogućujući korisniku interakciju s objektima, potpuno mijenja dosadašnje načine predstavljanja i promocije turističkih proizvoda. Primjene navedenih tehnologija u turizmu obuhvaća područja poput planiranja i upravljanja, marketinga, promocije i kulturne baštine.
Abstract (english) Information and Communications Technologies are the main initiators of today's globalization and have quickly found their applications in the tourist sector as well. This paper work talks about one of the specific type of tourism, virtual tourism, virtual technologies such as augmented and virtual reality are the prerequisite for its creation. Virtual reality provides a unique experience of the virtual world, creating a fully expanding virtual environment and allowing users to interact with objects, it is completely changing the way tourism products are present and promoted. In addition to virtual reality, augmented reality has also a great potential for its use in the tourism sector. Using a simple device, computer-generated three-dimensional objects are presented to the user making his reality augmented. The application of these technologies in tourism sector include areas such as planning and management, marketing, promotion and cultural heritage. In addition to the features that virtual technology offers, there are also some limitations related to them like: cost, lack of real-world experience and travel experiences. The future of virtual tourism as a substitute for tourism will largely depend on the acceptance, limitations and possibilities of using this technology. This can be analyzed from two aspects, from the aspect of demand and satisfaction of the specific needs of tourists and from the aspect of offering virtual travels that meet the needs of demand.
