Abstract (english) Attachment is one of the oldest constructs in Psychology, it refers to a strong emotional bond with the object of attachment. Many studies indicate that attachment affects multiple aspects of an individual's life, including youth romantic relationships. Different types of attachment relate to a different quality, experiences and emotions in a romantic relationship. Securely attached partners develop more stable and quality romantic relationships as opposed to insecurely attached partners. Individuals with different types of attachment report different parental relationships. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between dimensions of attachment (anxiety and avoidance) to a romantic partner with the a level of romantic relationship satisfaction, the length of the longest relationship and dimensions of parental attachment, as well as to examine the difference in the dimensions of attachment to romantic partners between students who are in a relationship and ones who are not. The participants were 107 University of Zadar students, ages 19 to 27 (M=21,31; SD=1,31). In accordance with current results, results of this study indicate a significant negative correlation between dimensions of attachment to a romantic partner and relationship satisfaction, as well as dimensions of attachment and the length of the longest relationship. Also, as expected, significant positive correlations were found between dimensions of attachment in a romantic relationship and dimensions of parental attachment.
