Abstract Stalno rastuća konkurencija je karakteristika današnjeg globalnog tržišta, a pravovremeno reagiranje te odgovaranje na istu je bitan čimbenik na kojem se temelji uspješnost u suvremenom turističkom poslovanju. U takvom konkurentnom okruženju je iznimno teško istaknuti svoju jedinstvenost koja je ključni element u privlačenju i zadržavanju turista. Sukladno tome, potrebno je osmisliti i provesti diferencirane marketinške strategije koje bi privukle, ali i zadržale dostatan broj turista te im omogućile zadovoljenje njihovih želja i potreba. Kako bi se to realiziralo, potrebno je biti inovativan te upotrebljavati inovativnost u svim segmentima turističke ponude s ciljem stvaranja konkurentske prednosti na globalnom turističkom tržištu. Inovativnost sama po sebi može stvoriti svojevrsan efekt među potrošačima, posebno kada je riječ o turizmu, a koliko ona zapravo može pomoći pri stvaranju konkurentske prednosti te poboljšanju poslovanja je pokazala usporedna analiza odabranih tradicionalnih i inovativnih smještajnih objekata u Republici Hrvatskoj. U navedenoj analizi fokus se postavio na razinu postotka iskoristivosti njihovog kapaciteta kako bi se uvidjelo utječe li inovativnost na uspješnost njihovog poslovanja, što također predstavlja i temeljno istraživačko pitanje ovog rada. Inovativnost analiziranih objekata se prvenstveno odnosi na dizajn interijera/eksterijera te su objekti zahvaljujući navedenom, i prije otvorenja objekata bili kvalietno medijski popraćeni. Naravno, u turizmu ne treba biti riječ samo i isključivo o inovativnosti u dizajnu, već bilo kojem segmentu poslovanja koji je ključan za određeni smještajni objekt. Potrebno je konstantno osmišljavati i kreirati dodatnu ponudu koja može zadovoljiti današnje mobilne turiste te im pružiti iskustvo kojim će u konačnici diferencirati posjećenu destinaciju od ostalih. Također, bilo bi poželjno konstantno inovirati, ulagati u smještajne objekte te graditi turizam zajedno s educiranom lokalnom zajednicom i ostalim dionicima turizma, otvarati inovativne smještajne objekte te renovirati postojeće tradicionalne kako bi se stvorila kvalitetna raznovrsnost koja može konkurirati globalno. Odnosno, potrebno je biti otvoren novim i kreativnim idejama te surađivati na svim razinama kako bi se postigla kvalitetna sinergija koja može voditi turizam u smjeru pozitivnog svjetla inovacija
Abstract (english) Ever-growing competition is todays main characteristic of the global market, so prompt respond is one of the key elements of success in modern tourism. In that ever-growing and ever-changing environment, it is extremely difficult to emphasize your uniqueness that is very important in getting new but also retaining old tourists. Accordingly, it is a key factor to design and implement unique marketing strategies that will attract and retain tourists, and at the same time satisfy their needs and desires. In order to make that happen, it is obligatory to be innovative in all segments of tourists offer to create competitive advantage on the global market. Innovation itself can create a sort of effect among consumers, especially when it comes to tourism. How much it can actually help to create competitive advantage and improve business performance has been shown through a comparative analysis of selected traditional and innovative accommodation facilities in the Republic of Croatia. In the above-mentioned analysis, the focus was placed on how high is the level utilization of their capacity in percentage to see whether innovation influences the success of their business. That is also a fundamental research question of this paper. The innovation of the analyzed objects is primarily related to interior and exterior design on one hand and a wide range of additional content offered to tourists on the other hand. Of course, innovation in tourism should not only be about innovation in design, but any given segment of business. It is necessary to constantly create additional offers that can satisfy today's mobile tourists and provide them with an experience that will ultimately differentiate the visited destination from the rest. Also, it would be desirable to constantly innovate, invest in accommodation facilities and to work in creating tourism offer together with educated local communities and other tourism participants. Also, opening up innovative accommodation facilities and renovating existing ones to create a high-quality diversity of offer that can compete globally. It is necessary to be open to new and creative ideas and to cooperate at all levels in order to achieve good quality synergy that can lead tourism in the direction of a positive light of innovation.
