Abstract Tema ovog diplomskog rada je dječja igra i rano poučavanje stranog jezika.
Abstract (english) The topic of this thesis is a children's play and early learning of a foreign language. This article describes children's play, that is why play is necessary for the development of children. We say that game is one of the main ways children learn. Children through the game develop cognitive, emotional, social and physical abilities, and it builds the foundation for lifelong learning. This article describes the history of children's play itself as well as the emergence of toys whose remains date back to earlier periods of history. Early language learning enables children easier learning of other foreign languages. An important role in learning foreign languages plays age, talent, motivation, and foreign language learning strategies. This paper describes the most well-known theories of adopting the second foreign language and their theoreticians who have presented a serious reflection on the way we adopt or learn a foreign language. For the purpose of my thesis, I did research in kindergarten “Zraka Sunca”. For this research, I used the method of participatory observation of the educational group, for which I created the instrument monitoring protocol. Through this research, I gained an insight into the work of the educator, I observed the play of children, the cooperation between the educator and the children, and the quality of the educational work. It was found that play is an important factor in learning a foreign language, and what is most important for preschool age, that is spontaneity, it means learning through spontaneous situations. This research can serve as a basis for other research.
