Abstract Bruno Bušić važna je ličnost razdoblja novije hrvatske povijesti zbog svojeg patriotizma i značajnog literarnog i emigrantskog djelovanja.
Abstract (english) Figure of Bruno Bušić is important in the context of the recent Croatian history, particularly because of his patriotism, demonstrated through significant literary and emigrant action. His biography and life’s work are not being examined with enough attention regarding Croatian history. In available sources, authors tend to focus on Bušić’s murder, which is inevitable when Bušić is mentioned, but should also focus on other aspects of his life and creativity. This thesis has been completed through analysis of the literature, consisting of 3 types of sources: of historical materials and memoirs for the most part, and of his literary and publicist legacy. The period elaborated in this work can be divided in two lines; first one begins with Bušić’s birth in 1939 and ends with his assassination in 1987, and the other refers to times after his death until the present date, when there are still some things that remain a mystery. Bušić frequented school in Imotski until he was prevented by Udba (State Security Administration) due to his involvement in the organization “TIHO”. He completed his middle school education in Split, from where he moved to the University of Zagreb. Zagreb is the city where he got his first employment and met dr. Franjo Tuđman at the Institute. When the Court initiated legal proceedings against him, Bušić emigrated for the first time by moving to Austria. However, he returned and remained in Croatia until the termination of the work, and then he emigrated for the second time, in Paris. Displeased with that kind of life, Bušić returned in Croatia once again, where he participated in the mass movement called Croatian Spring. Later, he was convicted for the cooperation on the Croatian Weekly and Croatian Literary Journal and served his sentence in Stara Gradiška. He left his homeland for the last time and was granted with political asylum in London. Besides London, Bušić encountered other Croatian emigrants in various European cities and cooperates with Croatian National Council. His life also ended in exile on October 16th, 1978.
