Abstract (english) In the graduate thesis the role of journey is interpreted on the selected works of world's and Croatian children's literature with the intention to detect difference/similarity in literary travels in folk tales, classic author’s and contemporary fairy tales. Three oral fairy tales are included (Russian, Flemish and Croatian), and from author's chosen tales are those from Charles Perrault, Grimm brothers, Hans Christian Andersen, Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, Karel Čapek, Sunčana Škrinjarić and Zoran Pongrašić. Based on the theoretical strongpoint by Vladimir Propp, world’s and Croatian fairy tales theorists, hero - traveller's typology is established – the reasons for his journey are defined, the aims of the journey, the literary space with stations is analysed as well as the role of the sidekick and the opponent on the journey. The semantical area of the traveller’s journey is seen through the relation between realistic and fantastic, their pervasion, transitions, leaving and returning and/or remaining. Appearance of the spiritual hero's journey to whom the physical overcoming of the space offers a dimension of spiritual maturation, growth and cognition, was also detected. It was noticed that most of the fairy tale's characters end their journeys with marriage, while their opponents get punished. The poetics of contemporary fairy tale brings more complex heroes travellers to whom the journey is a mean of discovering the value in themselves.
