Abstract (english) The story of the novel, which revolves around the main character, the knight Parzival, takes place in a time of migration and the many wars that have ravaged Europe. Some of the main themes that keep pervading the novel are chivalry, courage, the search for the Holy Grail, Courtly Love and marriage. Although the knight Parzival and his life adventures are in the foreground, this thesis focuses on the secondary characters, i.e. the female characters, which were of particular importance for the plot of the novel. An attempt is made here to humanize female characters by analyzing the concept of femininity: these characters are not just ordinary accessories that go well with brave knights and fit into their lives as good and obedient wives. Their femininity defines them: they are brave and capable rulers who know what they want and what they have to do to defend their country; they are clever and educated women, on whose good advice depends the fate of the main character; they are sentient court ladies, ready to help others in need. Femininity cannot really be easily defined: it is a fluid term that means and represents something different for every woman. A woman is not more feminine if she shows that she is polite, good and obedient, and not less feminine if she is combative and persistent, knows what she wants and does not have to depend on a man to achieve her goal.
