Abstract (english) The aim of this final work was to present the self-images of the homeland in the poetry of Croatian female writers of the nineteenth century. The first half of the nineteenth century in Croatia was marked by the current of national revival, which was equally defended and respected by the female poets Dragojla Jarnević, Ana Vidović, Ana Vrdoljak and Jagoda Brlić. To get a better insight into the poetry of the mentioned authors, we will first show the literary-historical circumstances in which they created, which will also more thoroughly explain the patriotic images in the selected poems. By analyzing the selected patriotic corpus, we found that Dragojla Jarnević introduces the ideas of Romanticism in her poems through the patriotic subjectivity of the lyrical subject, which increasingly moves away from Renaissance Collectivism, while Ana Vidović's lyrics are characterized by a love story through which she allegorically speaks about political issues and disagreements. Ana Vrdoljak's poetry abounds in the awakening of national consciousness, especially the association of women with the national revival, while Jagoda Brlić was guided by romantic and patriotic motives to strengthen national identity, primarily advocating the idea of the Illyrian movement, as opposed to the post-Renaissance phase where she uses the patriotic narrative of Croatianism. After interpreting the representative, but also unexplored poems of Croatian poets of the nineteenth century, we came to the conclusion that their literary work shows the merging of the spirit of Romanticism with elements of oral tradition and ideas of the Croatian National Revival. Although their poems go beyond the framework of conventional Renaissance poetry, with the fluidity of traditional verse and motifs of national enthusiasm and patriotism, Croatian poets remained in the context of stereotypical self-images of the homeland.
