Abstract (english) The main objective of this thesis is to examine the way in which national minorities are presented in the Croatian daily press. Namely, although Croatia is a very homogeneous country as, according to the data from 2011., Croats make up 90.4% of the population, the remaining part are, as an aftereffect of turbulent historical events, members of 22 national minorities. The research conducted for the purpose of this paper covers the three most widely read Croatian daily newspapers - 24 sata, Jutarnji list and Večernji list. The sample consists of issues published during December 2014, more precisely from 1 to 31 December, which includes a total of 29 issues of each of these publications. In the total of 87 reviewed issues, there are 80 articles found and analyzed that mention national minorities. The results of the analysis showed that within the News and Black Chronicle sections the minorities are mostly portrayed in a negative context. Also, articles dedicated to minorities are almost non-existent on the front pages and most of them do not provide any information about the text's author. Additionally, the minorities that are mentioned most frequently are Serbian and Bosnian, while others are very little represented. These data are exposing that the way in which newspapers are reporting on national minorities constructs negative images of them in the society. This shows that journalists are not doing their job responsibly, but violating the ethical and professional principles of the profession.
