Abstract (english) Due to increasing social and socio-economic changes, new trends in tourism are emerging that reflect upon these changes. Trends have a large impact on tourism, and perhaps they have the greatest impact on human capital. Successful implementation and enforcement of each of the trends requires certain abilities and skills in the possession of human capital. Firstly, it is important to emphasize that the notion of human capital has not always been understood as something positive. Throughout history, many have believed that calling people capital achieves their understanding solely through the monetary value they represent and thus forgetting all other aspects of a human being. Later, it was realized that the term capital can be very positive, more specifically, when people realize they have value, i.e. capital, they will be more willing to invest further in their development. Investing in human capital is possible through education, training and through the acquisition of additional skills and competencies that will make it easier for individuals to adapt to the changing needs of the labor market. The paper further clarifies the importance of investing in so-called soft skills, which include the ability to listen actively and empathize, negotiation skills, but also a sense of humor. The paper found that although changes in the tourism market are inevitable and that current trends will always change, human resources employed in the tourism sector can facilitate the adjustment process by investing in acquiring new and modern skills that will, among other things, improve interpersonal relationships with tourists. It can be concluded that tourism is a lucrative industry in that due to frequent contact with many different people, an individual can try out all the new skills they have acquired.
