Abstract Akademski kipar Stipe Sikirica je svojim radom obilježio i proslavio tradiciju Cetinske krajine i Sinjske Alke.
Abstract (english) Academic sculptor Stipe Sikirica has marked and celebrated the tradition of region around the river Cetina and of the event Sinjska Alka with his work. He has gathered many styles, even though some are more prominent such as the influence of important artists Ivan Meštrović and Alberto Giacometti. During his life he has delt with many stylistic phenomena through which he has glorified hometown and the human figure. One of these styles are small sculpture, which encompasses many works, such as medals, money and plaques. This forgotten style deserves certain amount of the attention in identification, analysis and evaluation because S. Sikirica has brought innovative and detailed ways of presenting and working. He observed portraits in a friendly manner, which is why he emphasized their essence. It is important to notice that he has worked in different materials, but he always wanted to depict motives faithfully so that a mere observer can recognize them and understand them in a friendly and closer manner. It was extremely important for S. Sikirica to emphasize the vitality in the portraited characters, and also to represent the certain feeling which evolves in the hearts of people in Cetina region during Alka and celebration of the Holy Mary. Even though S. Sikirica was extremely intrigued with small sculpture, the main focus in his works originate from Sinj and his village, Jabuka. Art works that are present in Sinj can be found in books and catalogues, but certain work from Jabuka were never presented nor analyzed so this work will enable proper presentation and evaluation of those works.
