Abstract U ovom završnom radu riječ je o usmenim predajama i vjerovanjima u Imotskoj krajini. U prvu skupinu uvrštene su vile i predaje o postanku i funkciji svijeta, dok druga skupina obuhvaća vještice, vukodlake i mòre. Etiološke predaje govore o nastanku Crvenog i Modrog jezera i legendi o izvoru rijeke Vrljike, a povijesne predaje donose priču o hajduku Andriji Šimiću.
Abstract (english) In this final work we are talking about oral transmissions and beliefs in the Imotski region. We state first the problem of different naming of oral creation and the problem of classification of oral literature into literary genres are mentioned. The rich oral and literary heritage of the Imotski region is presented and its most faithful collector, the priest Silvestar Kutleša, is highlighted. Stories about supernatural beings, phenomena, fairies, witches, werewolves and nightmare are given as an indispensable part of the Imotski oral tradition. According to Marko Dragić, oral transmissions are divided into mythical, demonological, etiological and historical. The first group includes fairies and legends about the origin and function of the world, while the second group are witches, werewolves and nightmares. Etiological legends speak about the origin of the Red and Blue Lakes and legends about the source of the river Vrljika, and historical legends tell the story of the hajduk Andrija Šimić. When it comes to beliefs they are linked to the customs of Christmas and Easter. Christmas and Easter are feasts celebrated by the whole region and the two most important Christian holidays. Numerous beliefs are related to Christmas straw, Christmas Eve, weather conditions. In the end, it can be noticed that some traditions originated from beliefs based on Christian traditional culture and remained in the Imotski region with some modern adaptations.
