The paper deals with a comparative analysis of three novels by Croatian writer Zvonimir Majdak: You get it, man (1970.), Old boys (1975.), Nasty parking (1980.) and three novels by Serbian author Momo Kapor: Phonies (1975.), Notes from an Ane (1972.), Hey, I didn't tell you that (1975). All these works belong to the stylistic formation of prose in jeans, or a specific model of the novel defined by Alexander Flaker on the basis of a special type of young narrator whose style is built on the colloquial language of youth, and worldview on challenging traditional and existing social structures. In theory, the name jeans prose is often used, and Salinger's novel The Catcher in the Ray (1951.) is associated with this type of prose as a paradigmatic pattern. In the central part of the paper, the comparative interpretation of selected texts is approached from the aspect of the typology of narrators and characters, space or place, and language and style. The narrator will be either brutal (at Majdak) or intelligent (at Kapor), and the protagonist will be either naive (at Majdak) or bright (at Kapor). Typical genre places like city, street, cafe, nightclub and the like appear in all the novels. Language and style will always contain slang, jargon, humor, ironic narrations of the narrator as well as philosophizing about "nothing", wandering (the practice of "leisure") and the minimal appearance of a specific plot.
